The girls’ varsity golf team placed sixth out of sixteen in the GWOC on Wednesday, September 25. The team improved their score by 15 strokes and shot their personal best of a 397.

“I was very proud of the girls being able to break into the 300s for the first time this season and at an important meet,” said Coach Vivian Bibler. “Currently, our record is ten wins and four losses, but I hope our wins increase.”

The varsity team is made up of six girls, including senior Rebecca Krizner along with juniors Emma Saltsman, Shelby Hunter, Britney Hansard, Blake Johnson, and Sarah Avdakov.

Despite how cold the morning was, Avdakov was still able to shoot her personal best of a 97.

“My favorite part of GWOC is being able to play against different people and on different courses,” said Avdakov. “It makes every match or tournament different. I think I did really well at this course. Not only did I have a personal best, but I also finished in the top twenty. I’m looking forward to having a terrific senior season next year and improving my game even more.”

Not only did Avdakov shoot her personal best, Hunter also shot her best.

The day started off rough when Hunter admitted she was sick and didn’t think she could make it through the day. Luckily, she fought through it and managed to shoot her personal best of a 103.

“I think I did really well this season compared to the previous seasons.” said Hunter. “The team has also improved a lot and I can’t wait until next year.”

With 8 juniors who will return, the girls’ golf team intends to keep shining next year.
