Ohio’s State Board of Education is presenting Northmont High School with the Momentum Award. The award is used to recognize deserving schools. Northmont is receiving the award based on the 2016-2017 Ohio School overall report card.

The Momentum Award program is a way for the State Board to recognize schools that have received As on each subject included on Ohio’s school and district report cards. The award also reflects how NHS students performed on the End of Course Exams. Northmont students are showing more growth compared to other students in other districts.

This is only the second year the award has been given, and the first year Northmont has received it. Approximately six percent of schools in Ohio will receive the award, including elementary, middle school, and high schools.

“I hope that students understand the high quality education they are receiving at Northmont High School.  Our students are extremely hard working and receive high quality instruction from their teachers,” said Dr. Jason Inkrott, high school principal. “This combination has created an environment where our students are growing at a faster rate than students in most districts.”

The award is going to be mailed to the district and it is yet to be determined where the award will be kept.
