Homecoming is a time where high school students come together to dance and have a great time. But many don’t look into the behind of the scenes of homecoming and all of its many difficulties.

In this day in age girls, in particular, will go above and beyond to try an be perfect. Whether that’s spending hundreds of dollars on dresses, finding the perfect shows, make-up, etc. it’s times like this girls lose their self-esteem and confidence, all because they think they’re not pretty or perfect enough. Homecoming can also cause unneeded stress, high school is already stressful enough and now students have to start worrying about homecoming, For some, its just 3 hours of either standing around or dancing until your back and ankles go out.

But homecoming can also be fun and exciting and there are pros of going. Girls and guys get to dress up and be fancy, you get to hang out with your friends, you can go out to eat and be romantic, and you get to spend time with your friends and meet new people. Homecoming can also unify people in a way, putting aside differences to just dance and have fun.

This is my second year at Northmont High School and I’m personally not going to be attending homecoming. I went last year and it was a blast but I was entirely way too stressed out about it. By the end of the night, I was exhausted and my feet were swollen for my heels. If you’re a freshman I definitely think you should go just to get the high school experience. But if you’re stressing, consider saving your time and money.
