According to Dual Shockers, The beloved video company, Telltale Games, is coming to an end. This company made so many popular ‘make your own story’ video games, such as The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Batman, and  Minecraft Story Mode, these games put the users in control, with each choice impacting the gameplay. This company was young, being founded in 2004.

Telltale is canceling a lot of games along with second seasons of some games, such as: The Wolf Among Us; Season 2, Game of Thrones, and Stranger Things. Telltale’s most popular game was the first season of The Walking Dead. Now, The Walking Dead was going to be cancelled, but another company swooped in and saved that project, hiring former employees of Telltale to finish the final season (dualshocker.com). Finally, Telltale announced on Twitter, “Telltale games has made a difficult decision to begin a majority studio closure following by a year of insurmountable challenges. A majority of the company’s employees were dismissed early in the morning on [Friday,] September 21, 2018. With just a small group of employees staying to fulfill some of the company’s obligations to its board and partners.” Fans and employees were both shocked, but for different reasons. Fans were shocked about the closure of the company, while the employees were shocked that they lost their jobs with no warning.

The announcement of the closure of Telltale was a major shock, not only for fans, but for the employees too. Before Telltale even announced that they were closing, former employees were coming out about it all over social media. The company dropped 250 employees and kept 25 to finish up the company’s obligations (dualshockers.com). The employees weren’t the only ones affected by the closure announcement.

Many fans have expressed their feelings about the closing over social media. With one fan addressing their sadness on Twitter, “I can’t begin to say how gutted I am. You are one of my most loved companies, you’ve made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. Your games have brought joy to my whole house, from me playing The Walking Dead with my wife to playing Minecraft Storymode with my son. Thank you for everything,” said Nick also known as @NJL82.

Another fan, @LifeIsStrange, took to Twitter, “It’s a terrible blow to the industry and to us fans to see you go @telltalegames. Thank you for inspiring so many of us over the years and for creating games we always looked forward to playing.” Many are shocked and disappointed about the closure.

No one has released the exact date of when the closing will be, but many former employees said it could be soon (dualshockers.com). Many are hurt to see them go like this, but they will be missed. Fans and employees say thanks Telltale for each amazing journey and adventure.
