On Wednesday November 14, Bethesda released they’re last east installment of there famous Fallout series titles Fallout 76. This is the 6th Fallout series and the first one to integrate online into the game. Fallout 76 is a fully online based game loosely putting it into the MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) genre of gaming.

Many people have criticized the game for having no NPCs – basically making the game un-enjoyable unless you have friend to play with. This has been viewed as both a bad and a good thing, “There are also no NPCs on the map other than a few sparse robots, which amplifies this loneliness to a degree we just haven’t seen in this series before. You really do feel like you’re the first person out of the vault after years of catastrophe, in an empty dead world that’s practically yours alone,” said Paul Tassi of Forbes.com.

The game has been compared to games such as No Man’s Sky because both games included an enormous map that makes it nearly impossible to find other players.  The games are actually more alike than I imagined they would be in terms of how they actually feel and play, which is something I was not expecting. This can be either a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it.

In my opinion, Fallout 76 has potential to be a great game and implementation into the fallout series. Although the game has bugs that is to be expected with new online only releases. Games like this take time to fully develop to have a massive community. The game has had a lot of hype being the first fallout game to include an online mode. I like the game and hope to see its community grow and hope it gets the respect it deserves.

Fallout 76 is a game with a lot of potential and hype. The game will continue to evolve and last as one of its creators Pete Hines said in reference to how long the game will last, “I’m not being ironic. Like, forever.”
