California has been known to have the worst wildfires in the United States. It is one of the driest states, and combine that with some wind and a catastrophic fire can began.

It has been at least three weeks since the fire began, so far it has burned over 150, 000 acres. On Wednesday, November 21, it was 80% contained with over 13, 500 homes destroyed (CNN).

According to CNBC News, California has gotten the first significant rain in months, dousing the fires which helped firefighters contain them. Although the rain is helpful, it now leaves flooding which puts many at the risk of a landslide.

So far, the fires have killed at least 83 people and left 563 still unaccounted for.

Many celebrities have put towards money in order to help out during these devastating times. Miley Cyrus’s house was one of the many that were burned down in the fire, but even then, she and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth put forth $500, 000 towards those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience. Sandra Bullock also gave $500, 000 in total to put into relief efforts for the fire. Other celebrities who have helped out include Ellen DeGeneres, Dave Grohl, Guy Fieri, Gerard Butler and more.
