XXXTentacion, Life after Death
XXXTentacion posthumously releases new album, SKINS.
December 6, 2018
Despite his assassination in mid-June of 2018, XXXTentacion continues to posthumously release music. With “Falling Down” in September and “Arms Around You” in November, it has become clear to X’s fans that he will continue to release music. Those thoughts were confirmed on December 7th, 2018 when XXXtentacion released his 3rd studio album, SKINS. This is X’s first posthumous album, with ten tracks running to 19 minutes, including “Bad!” and “One Minute”, featuring Kanye West.
The release party consisted of performances by Ski Mask The Slump God, Trippie Redd, Matt Ox, Lil Pump, and more.
This album is full of eerie foreshadowing of the late rapper’s death, with these lyrics on “Train Food”:
All them #%$& dreams ’bout a diamond chain and a Maybach
Now your time finally up
Ask yourself the final question, is you going down or up?
Recollectin’ all the moments that you never gave a &$#
Now it’s here, death has now arrived, time’s finally up
Tears falling harder and harder, minutes get minuscule
Could’ve had a son or a daughter, now what you finna do?
You finna die here on this train track
On the song “One Minute”, rap megastar Kanye West comes to the defense of the deceased rapper, making the following claim:
So much hate at the top, it’s a lonely place
…
Now your name is tainted, by the claims they paintin’
The defendant is guilty, no one blames the plaintiff
Despite his early passing, X still has more unreleased music on the way. Future projects will be released by his management, and we can all look forward to his next album, Bad Vibes Forever.
