Trump Trucks vs. Biden Bus

While driving on Interstate-35, many trucks donned in Trump decorations surrounded the democratic bus. Nearby, a Trump rally had been held. Soon the trucks seem to become more aggressive with the Biden bus, speeding past the bus, driving extremely close to the bus, and at one point, hitting the bus. Many other bystanders on the highway took videos for eyewitnesses. These bystanders were also in danger, with the bus almost crashing and the trucks swerving, many drivers could’ve been hurt. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The tense conflict in Texas came less than a week before Election Day. Several similar public displays by Trump supporters nationwide who have blocked roads and harassed voters near polling stations by honking incessantly while waving Trump flags. Several similar public displays by Trump supporters nationwide who have blocked roads and harassed voters near polling stations by honking incessantly while waving Trump flags, stated  in the Texas Tribune.  Friday’s highway conflict came as the bus was driving on Interstate-35 between Laredo and San Antonio. Texas congressional candidate and former state senator Wendy Davis (D) was on the bus, the Tribune reported, when it was surrounded by nearly 100 trucks decked out in Trump campaign gear.

A few hours later, President Donald Trump tweeted the video and said, “I LOVE TEXAS!” A lot of Republicans have cheered on the behavior and President Trump jumped on that bandwagon, speaking with many Republicans about the incident. After President Trump tweeted that, the FBI was contacted. According to the Texas Tribune, the FBI stated that “We are investigating the incident and will be opening this case up as a full investigation.” President Trump was not happy once he found out. He began tweeting his opinions of the incident, “In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong. Instead, the FBI & Justice should be investigating the terrorists, anarchists, and agitators of ANTIFA.” He also held a rally in South Florida and praised the drivers of the trucks.

In response, a volunteer for the Biden campaign, Eric Cervini,  claimed he spent the afternoon calling 911 as the caravan confronted the bus between San Antonio and Austin. “These Trump supporters, many of whom were armed, surrounded the bus on the interstate and attempted to drive it off the road,” he said in tweets.

Tariq Thowfeek, Texas communications director for the Biden campaign told CNN, “Rather than engage in productive conversation about the drastically different visions that Joe Biden and Donald Trump have for our country, Trump supporters in Texas today instead decided to put our staff, surrogates, supporters, and others in harm’s way.”

The FBI is still looking into the incident and keeping the case open, they have suspicions about the intentions of the drivers.
