Throughout the school year, teachers work without much recognition or praise, but Student Government made certain teachers felt appreciated last week, as they filled the five-day work week with small gestures of appreciation.

Teachers enjoyed wearing jeans for the week, balloons in the staff workrooms, handwritten thank you notes, sweet treats in their mailboxes, and a breakfast held for all staff.

“My favorite event was the teacher breakfast. As teachers, we don’t get a lot of time to socialize with our co-workers outside of our departments, so that was nice to see everyone together,” said language arts teacher Ms. Kathryn Abels, who is also one of the advisers of Student Government, along with Ms. Julie Marshall.

Even though the week creates more work for teachers like Marshall and Abels, both teachers said they thoroughly enjoyed the week.

“Student Government and the senior class did a great job planning and sponsoring the events of the week,” said Abels.

With the seniors preparing to leave, they wanted to be certain they were showing their appreciation for the teachers who have taught them over the past four years.
