Emily Sattler
Teaches Algebra I and Geometry
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my first teaching job.
Q: What have been your first impressions of Northmont?
A: I love it. Interacting with the kids is great.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: Watching the students learn and grow.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Doing real-world math activities and watching the students be successful in school, sports, and everything they do.
Braden Kindell
Teaches World History I and II
Q: Where did you teach before coming to Northmont?
A: Tri-County North High School
Q: What have been your first impressions of Northmont?
A: I like all the people that I work with and the kids have been a joy so far. It’s different, but I love it.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: You can impact someone’s life on a daily basis.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Getting more acclimated with the iPad. I want to learn all of its functions and capabilities.
Brian Hartt
Teaches Geometry and Algebra II
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my second year teaching.
Q: Where did you teach before coming to Northmont?
A: Greenview High School. It was smaller and more rural.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: My favorite thing is seeing students’ eyes light up when they grasp a difficult concept.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Just getting to know all of the new students I have and the new teachers I’m working with.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: My family, biking, architecture, travel, and remodeling old houses.
Robert Winkler
Teaches Graphic Design, Drafting, and Manufacturing Technology

A: 31 years
Q: Where did you teach before coming to Northmont?
A: Northridge High School
Q: What have been your first impressions of Northmont?
A: I love it.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: The interaction with the students.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: I enjoy playing golf, fishing, spending time with my family, watching sports, exercising, and grilling out.
Ryan Chatterton
Teaches Orchestra and Music Theory, assists with Marching Band
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: 2 years, I was a long-term substitute last year.
Q: What have been your first impressions of Northmont?
A: I love it. The kids are really nice.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: I like seeing kids succeed at something they used to struggle with.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Seeing how well the high school orchestra does at the state contest.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: I enjoy sports, mainly football and hockey. I love rock and roll music. I played guitar professionally before becoming a teacher. I love dogs and I have two rescue dogs, Bailey and Molly.
Jourdan Shanks
Teaches Language Arts 9 Academic and 11 Academic
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my first year teaching. I student taught at Bellbrook. It was a good experience.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: My favorite thing is getting to build new relationships every year.
Q: What do you look forward to your first year here?
A: Just making it through, and having that first year under my belt and having my own stuff to pull from so I don’t have to create from scratch.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: Spending time with my 3-year-old son Hunter and playing volleyball.
Chikondi Kamvazaana
Teaches Spanish I and II
Q: How long have you been teaching? If you taught elsewhere previously, where?
A: This is my first year teaching.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: It’s really fun to be overly excited and people think you’re insane.
Q: What do you look forward to your first year here?
A: Becoming a part of the community, Northmont Nation, and building relationships.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: I enjoy creating music. I’ve been doing it since I was 13. With my home studio, I’m sorta kinda a pseudo-hiphop producer. I play the keys and sing as well. In addition to that, I watch several different Japanese animes. Also, I am really emotionally and monetarily invested in a Fantasy Football league with my childhood friends. Lastly, I whoteheartedly love Golden Grahams.
Briana Butler
Teaches Personal Finance, International Marketing, and Business Foundations
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my first year teaching.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: So much… just being around the students, and every day is different.
Q: What are your first impressions of Northmont?
A: Great school, I think. Very friendly, the staff.
Q: What do you look forward to your first year here?
A: Building student relationships, especially since I have a lot of freshman. So I can kind of follow them through high school.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: I LOVE coaching volleyball, I enjoy trying new things (sky diving is on my to-do list), traveling, and trying fun crafts I find on Pinterest.
Theresa Rotuno
Teaches Language Arts 9 Academic and 10 Academic
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my first year teaching. I student taught here, actually, with Mrs. Morvatz. I really loved it. That’s the reason why I came back.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: Interacting with and getting to know students. I love the energy they bring and their courage and optimism.
Q: What do you look forward to you first year here?
A: Getting a routine and growing and figuring out who I am as a teacher. Teaching lessons that go beyond the walls of the school.
Jenna Harris
Teaches Spanish I and II, ESL Tutoring
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my sixth year teaching. I previously taught Spanish I and III at Franklin.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: The developed relationships with students and seeing them succeed.
Q: What do you look forward to your first year here?
A: Meeting new people and getting to know the staff.
Q: What are your interests outside school?
A: I love playing and coaching soccer, and I go to the gym 5-6 days a week. I love watching football, and I am on three fantasy football teams. My favorite team is the San Francisco 49ers. I spend my free time watching shows on Netflix. I love to travel, and I’ve been to Spain once and Australia twice. Also, I have a tennis shoe addiction…I have 20 pairs right now & my collection is growing!
Elizabeth Carder
Teaches Algebra I and II
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my eleventh year teaching.
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
A: It is hard to pick one favorite thing so I am picking two. I enjoy getting to see the light bulb go on when a student gets a concept they have been struggling with. I also like how every day is different.
Q: What do you look forward to your first year here?
A:I look forward to meeting new people and collaborating with other teachers.
