Le’Bron James Looking Forward to The Lakers New Beginnings

Justin Artz, Staff Writer

Even though the summer ended nearly 2 months ago, NBA fans are still discussing the biggest free agency decision of the year. Super star small forward Le’Bron James leaving his long time home Cleveland.

After James’s big decision, he’ll be the Lakers team leader this year in his 16th season. After spending a total of 11 years in his home state of Ohio, 4 years in Miami, he starts a new chapter in his NBA career. James holds multiple NBA records and career milestones with some saying he is the greatest player in the NBA since Michael Jordan.

James will play with a young core in LA. His goal this season is to make the young athletes around him play better and teach them as much as he can. He’ll play with young stars such as Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Kyle Kuzma. Ball and Kuzma are in their second NBA season, and Ingram will start in his third season.

James is known for his astounding play on the court, but he’s made bigger moves in his offseason than just signing with the Lakers. This previous summer, James opened a school in his hometown, Akron Ohio where all kids have free tuition, they all receive free bicycles, helmets, and free breakfast and lunch. The new school cost James 8.1 million dollars, on top of the millions he already donates to multiple charities.

Le’Bron will play his first regular season game with LA on Thursday, October 18th.  The team will play the Portland Trail Blazers as James looks to get his first win with his new team.
