Carl Ruiz Dies Of A Heart Attack at 44

Celebrity chef Carl Ruiz died at age 44 of a heart attack on September 21 in New York City. He was widely known for his appearances on the Food Network. La Cubana, the restaurant where Ruiz worked, posted on instagram, “No words can fully express our sadness at the sudden loss of our dear friend and brother,” as reported  by CNN 

According to The New York Times, Carl Ruiz was a television celebrity and global restaurateur whose dishes celebrated his Latin upbringing.  La Cubana specialized in making Latin dishes. Ruiz would mostly appear on the Food Network, participating as a judge and contestant  on the show “Guys Grocery Games.”  Ruiz worked at a lot of restaurants in his lifetime. He was executive chef at Sabor in North Bergen, and he ran Marie’s Italian Specialties, which is how he ended up meeting Guy Fieri.

According to IMDb , Ruiz was on 25 episodes as a judge and a contestant. Carl Ruiz will be remembered for his cooking abilities and great personality. He will be missed but never forgotten.
