The regular season has come to an end after this past Sunday the 10th. Some teams failed to meet expectations while others exceeded expectations. With that being said this is what the playoff matchups look like.

First the Play-in Tournament. This was implemented last year and how it works is the 7th and 8th seed will play each other, and the winner of that will be the 7th seed for the playoffs. Then the 9th and 10th seed will face off, the loser of that game will be eliminated from playoff contention. Finally, the loser of the 7th and 8th will play the winner of 9th and 10th and whoever wins that will be the 8th seed for the playoffs. For the East, the Brooklyn Nets (7th) will play the Cleveland Cavs (8th) for a chance to play the Boston Celtics (2nd) in the playoffs. Then the Atlanta Hawks (9th) will play the Charlotte Hornets (10th) for a chance to play the loser of the 7th vs. 8th game. Then the winner of that will play the Miami Heat (1st) in the playoffs. For the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves (7th) and the Los Angeles Clippers (8th) will play for a chance to face the Memphis Grizzlies (2nd) in the playoffs. Then the New Orleans Pelicans (9th) and the San Antonio Spurs (10th) will play. The loser of the 7th vs. 8th and the winner of the 9th vs. 10th will then play for a chance to play the Phoenix Suns (1st) in the playoffs.

For the East, the Miami Heat secured the 1st seed, they will face the winner of the second play-in game. The Boston Celtics are the 2nd seed, and will play winner of the Nets/Cavs play-in game. The Milwaukee Bucks have the 3rd seed, and will play the Chicago Bulls. The Philadelphia 76ers are the 4th seed, and the Toronto Raptors are the 5th seed, the Sixers and Raptors face off agains each other. And the Chicago Bulls are the 6th seed and will play the Bucks.

For the West, The Phoenix Suns secured the 1st seed, and finished with the best record in the entire league. They will play the winner of the second play-in game. The Memphis Grizzlies are the 2nd seed and will face the winner of the T’wolves/Clippers play-in game. The Golden State Warriors are the 3rd seed and will be playing the Denver Nuggets. The Dallas Mavericks are the 4th seed, and the Utah Jazz are the 5th seed, they will be playing each other. And finally the Denver Nuggets are the 6th seed, and will be playing the Golden State Warriors.

The play-in games start on Tuesday the 12th, and Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs start on Saturday the 16th. (all information stated in this article can be found here on the ESPN website)
