The war in Ukraine, which has been continuing since February of 2014, has been nothing but eventful. NATO was forced to stay out of the conflict. Global Conflict article says, “Russia’s foreign ministry called on the United States and NATO to cease military activity in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, commit to no further NATO expansion toward Russia, and prevent Ukraine from joining NATO in the future” (September 2022)
Recently Russia has annexed four regions, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk of Ukraine. On September 4th and article by Robyn Dixon In two more staged votes, Russian parliament moves to ratify annexation says that Russia is trying to ratify their decision.
As if having the regions is not enough Russian soldiers are going door to door drafting Ukrainian men 18-35. According to Isabel Koshiw and an article she wrote, Conscription fears as young Ukrainian men stopped from leaving occupied areas (Tuesday 27 September 2022)
“There is a ban on letting them leave, according to older men who have successfully crossed, as well as two NGOs (Non- profit Organization) involved in helping people evacuate and local Telegram groups.”
She also explains that the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, says that if Ukrainian men should, “-should sabotage Russia’s military operations from within and “at the first opportunity, switch to [Ukrainian] positions”. This was said because the Ukrainian men are being recruited to fight against their own country. They are being tracked down and dragged out of their cars. People are staying inside hoping that they don’t get conscripted. Even then they are not safe according to a transcript in the article The Russians fleeing Putin’s military draft by AL JAZEERA (oct 4 2022) made by a an A.I and retrieved by a human, Halla Mohieddee, a Scottish journalist and broadcaster says, “Since the announcement, there have been chaotic scenes around Russia.
