On April 14, Elon Musk started talking about purchasing Twitter and on October 27, he bought the platform for $44 billion dollars. Since then, he has made several massive changes to the website including suspending accounts, adding prices to be verified, and even influencing the election.
He laid off 50% of Twitter’s staff due to the social media platform losing $4 million dollars per day and has deemed himself the “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator” because of some drama involving an American comedian. Kathy Griffin is an American comedian who impersonated Elon as an attempt to demonstrate flaws with the new system which was responded to via being unable to post tweets. Elon made a new system that makes it so you have to pay $8 to be verified in order to produce income for the company and fight spam on the platform.
According to CNN writer Donie O’Sullivan, Musk has also removed warnings before account suspension claiming that “This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue”. Alternatively, Elon has been spreading conspiracy theories about the Pelosi attack saying that the Democrats are a party of “division and hate”. It is unclear as to where Elon will take Twitter but users are not fond of the new owner of the platform.
