On September 19th, Kraft released a recall of its American cheese singles. There was a malfunction with one of the wrapping machines and it made a small layer of plastic on the cheese itself, which might become a choking hazard. Approximately 83,800 cheeses were shipped to a limited number of customers, but is a choking hazard. The 16 oz cheese packs were the only cheeses affected by the travesty.
In an interview with Carson Dunn, someone with a heartfelt opinion on cheese, he had this to say:
Question 1 What do you think Kraft should do about the cheese travesty?: They should probably check every machine that is in the process of wrapping cheese. Also continue the recall.”
Question 2 What would you expect from a cheese company?: “Well considering that it’s not the highest quality of cheese, at least being edible, without plastic. It should be mandatory to be edible without any harmful plastic or chemicals in the product. I don’t wanna die to cheese.”
Question 3 Would you be able to buy cheese singles again without fear?: “Well, I trust the company enough to look over their machines and cheese so I don’t think this would have a long term effect on me. I don’t think I’ll be eating plastic so I wouldn’t be opposed to buying it again”
According to the Kraft Heinz website “Products included in the recall include 16 oz. Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product with an individual package UPC of 0 2100061526 1 and a “Best When Used By” date of 10 JAN 24 through 27 JAN 24. Individual packages in this recall will contain an S and 72 in the Manufacturing code.”
This unfortunate incident has made many choking hazards in the beloved cheese and will continue to affect cheeses until all packages are returned or thrown away. According to CNBC “Nearly 84,000 cases of product are affected, the company says.” The issue will be resolved soon as Kraft Heinz is finding the affected machine and fixing the issue.
