Theatre in Our Schools (TIOS) month has officially begun and has gotten off to an amazing start! Throughout March, thousands of students have been advocating for the impact theater has on education and their lives. Thespians all around are uniting with one another to try to spread the joy of theater! The EDTA (Educational Theater Association) provides students with tools and resources to properly participate and win prizes!
The EDTA is dedicated to providing students and thespians everywhere with amazing opportunities to grow and be the type of thespian they want to be. According to the EDTA website, “We are excited to recognize the hard work of troupes who take the time to advocate for the importance of Theatre in Our Schools with the Outstanding Impact Award. Your dedication and efforts will help ensure students everywhere can benefit from experiencing school theatre. All Thespian troupes who participate in TIOS month activities are eligible to enter.”
The Outstanding Impact Award is given to troupes with the highest point count. For the entire month of March, participants are to demonstrate why theater is very important in our schools and how others can get involved in the performing arts. The prizes given to the highest point gatherers are:
- Free Disney Broadway Junior® ShowKit® OR a performance license for a Disney full-length title (including up to 6 performances and free materials rentals for scripts/scores)
- Free Performance Accompaniment Recording for use in rehearsals and performances
- Free video license
- Free logo pack
- Special Disney swag surprise pack
- Official TIOS Outstanding Impact Award trophy
- EdTA-issued press release to local media outlets
- Inclusion in a feature story in Dramatics magazine
