On April 21, 2024, Ozzy Osbourne, among other artists, got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is the second time the Prince of Darkness has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, that was in 2006 when Black Sabbath, his former band, were inducted.
This time, Ozzy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. According to Gary Graff from Billboard, Ozzy compared his induction with Black Sabbath to his solo induction by saying that it “feels different”, he said, “because my solo career, it’s been a much larger part of my overall music career as a whole.” And after finishing fourth in the fan vote with more than 480,000 votes “feels more special, and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way” (Apr 21, 2024).
Ozzy Osbourne is a rock star from Birmingham, England. He has had many hits including “Crazy Train”, “Iron Man”, “War Pigs” and more. Ozzy formed Black Sabbath in 1969 along with guitarist Tony Iommi. After many years with the band, he got ejected in 1979 due to his struggles with substance abuse. He later started being a solo artist in 1980 according to Sara Donnellan from Us Weekly.
According to Anna Kaplan from Today, “The musicians will be inducted at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Saturday, Oct. 19. The event will be streamed live on Disney+ and will be available to stream the next day on Hulu. There will also be a special airing on ABC at a later date” (Apr 22, 2024).
