It was announced that Wallace and Gromit would have a new movie appearing on Netflix. Their newest film is called Vengeance Most Fowl, which will premiere on the BBC this Christmas, and on Netflix in 2025. The newest Wallace and Gromit character is a gnome named Norbot.
Wallace and Gromit is a well-known series of movies and specials, especially in the United Kingdom. In 2022 it was announced that they would have a brand new adventure coming out in 2024. On June 6th, 2024, they released a short teaser trailer for the movie, revealing that the show’s most well known villain, Feathers McGraw, is returning in the movie. Feathers McGraw first appeared in the 1993 TV special called Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. He was a penguin disguised as a chicken that tried to use Wallace to steal a diamond from the museum. He has barely appeared since, and he is finally returning in the new movie. According to a BBC News Article, “The 70-minute adventure, titled Vengeance Most Fowl, will see the iconic duo face off against their nemesis who was last seen in the 1993 Oscar-winning short film The Wrong Trousers.” (BBC, June 6th.)
On August 29, 2024, Aardman animations, the company behind the movie, released a second trailer. While the previous one showed the return of an old character, this one showed the first appearance of a new one. His name is Norbot and he is a smart-gnome which Wallace has invented. According to another article from the BBC, “He’s a pre-programmed smart gnome designed to do any kind of gardening task or ‘Gnome Improvement.’” (BBC, August 29th). The new gnome is voiced by Reece Shearsmith and he said it was a “joy to bring the character to life.”
Ben Whitehead is also now the voice of Wallace, since Peter Salis (his previous voice actor), passed away in 2017. Peter Kay is rejoining the cast, too, as PC Mackintosh, who is now promoted the town’s chief inspector. BBC even provides a brief plot description of the upcoming movie. BBC News Says, “In the new movie, called Vengeance Most Fowl, dog Gromit grows concerned as Wallace grows more and more dependent on his inventions, including Norbot who seems to develop an evil mind of his own…” (BBC, August 29th).
Like stated earlier, Vengeance Most Fowl will premiere on the BBC on Christmas Day of this year. This is pretty much all of the information we have right now, but hopefully more information will come soon.
