Rayne Beau the cat, pronounced “rainbow”, traveled over 900 miles home after 2 months of being lost in Yellowstone National Park, with help from a microchip.
The seal point minted Siamese wondered off while his owners, Susanne and Benny Anguiano from California, were visiting the famous national park, Yellowstone.
Rayne Beau had ran off after getting startled by something in the woods. The owners attempted to get him to come back with his favorite treats and toys but failed. His owners were distraught when they had to leave Rayne Beau in the national park. According to CNN, “My husband is my hero because he went every day into the forest for hours looking for him, Anguiano told CNN” (Williams, September 21). After 61 days after Rayne Beau went missing, the couple got an alert about a cat with Rayne Beau’s identification number being found.
The cat was found in Roseville, California, just 190 miles from his home in Salinas, California. And was take in to the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Roseville. Rayne Beau was found in a rough condition since he had been without his owners for so long. The Guardian states, “He was really depleted,” said Susanne. “He probably didn’t have much energy left to go any farther.” (Marcos, September 20). His owners are very thankful that their beloved cat is back home and encourages pet owners to get their cats microchipped. CNN states, “We hope everyone will see the benefits to microchipping their pets, Fratis said.” (Williams, September 21).
