North Korea, on Tuesday, October 14, blew up roads and railroads that were connected and linked to the southern part of the peninsula, South Korea, after exchanging threats and destruction over North Korea’s claim that South Korea flying drones over its capital, according to South Korea’s military.
The destruction of these roads, as reported in a CBS News article, reflects North Korea’s escalating disdain for the conservative government of South Korea. ( CBS , Oct 15 ).
Kim Jong – Un has vowed to have any relations with South Korea no longer, abandoning their original plan of achieving unification.
As stated by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, located in a NEWSWEEK article, ” North Korea is carrying out additional activities using heavy equipment, ” ( Cook , Oct 15 ).
The roads and railways that were targets in the explosion have been, reputedly, have been closed for a while.
Still, their destruction sent over a clear message that Kim isn’t ready to negotiate with South Korea, as reported by experts on an article written by SCMP, South China Morning Post. ( SCMP , Oct 15 ).
They also added that the South sent out and fired warning shots within the southern sections of the border.
South Korea’s Unification Ministry, responsible for managing relations with North Korea, disapproves the detonations, calling them a ‘ deeply abnormal ‘ and ‘ backward ‘ action that breaches prior inter-Korean agreements.
A statement, on the NEWSWEEK article mentioned previously, published by South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, Seoul expresses that it condemns the destruction of any routes located on the north of the border. It’s was, apparently, ” a clear violation of an inter – Korean agreement and a very abnormal act, ” Spoken by the South Korean government, ( Feng , Oct 15 ).
The North has allegedly laid mines and deployed missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, as well as erected anti-tank barriers along the border since its leader, Kim Jong-Un, declared the South as a ‘ principal enemy ‘ early in the year, according to The Guardian article. These actions have raised tensions in the region and drawn international attention to the ongoing conflict between the two nations leading up to this point.
