On October 27th, Anthony Po, a Jersey City YouTuber who has over 1.8 million subscribers, hosted a Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest where four people were taken into custody; Timothée Chalamet showed up to the contest but did not enter.
According to The New York Times, Chalamet showed up to a lookalike contest in lower Manhattan that gained hundreds of onlookers as well as a dispersal order from the police and four people being taken into custody for “an “unscheduled demonstration” on Sunday, the New York Police Department said in a statement.” (Victor Mather, Oct, 28)
The large crowd caused the police to intervene “At one point, an officer approached me and screamed that I needed to leave the park,” Reed Putman said in an article for CNN ” I ignored him and moved away, but I saw another contestant get handcuffed and dragged out of the area.” (Oct, 28). A person named Miles Mitchell, a 21-year-old from Staten island who was dressed in a purple Wonka suit who thew candy from a brief case, was crowned the winner.
Speaking about the judges decision, Po said “I guess it was his charisma.” (Victor Mather,Oct, 28) The prize for winning was $50 and a 6ft tall trophy. “I’m excited and I’m also overwhelmed,” Mitchell said. “There were so many good look-alikes. It was really a toss-up.” (Jake Offenhartz Oct, 28)
The arrested Chalamet look alike was named Matt Mannix. Ever since the event finished, Matt’s face has become well known on the internet with people saying “#freetimmy” on posts about the arrest.

I strongly dislike him
