The Philadelphia Eagles have won Super Bowl 59, beating the Chiefs 40 to 22! This is their second Super Bowl victory, after their previous one in 2018. Jalen Hurts won Super Bowl MVP for his performance in the game, after he went 17/22 on his passes for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hurts went to Disney World after the game, as is tradition with the Super Bowl MVP.
Patrick Mahomes had a very bad showing, throwing for 2 interceptions with one of them being returned for a touchdown. In reaction to his performance, Mahomes said in a press conference after the game, “I feel like I didn’t play to my standard, especially the struggles that I had early in the season, and so there’s things I have to get better at. And they kind of showed today, on the biggest stage” (Mahomes, Feb. 9).

The Eagles defense was dominant, especially in the first half of the game. They held Mahomes to only 33 yards passing in the first half, and also took two interceptions as well. They also sacked him 6 times, and stopped the Chiefs from converting on third down 9 out of 12 times. They also scored a touchdown, courtesy of cornerback Cooper DeJean, whose birthday happened to fall on the day of the game!
