A Connecticut family has filed a $250 million dollar claim against the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Army following the loss of their loved one in the D.C. plane crash on Tuesday, February 18th.
The D.C. American Airlines plane crash occurred on January 29th and resulted in the death of all 64 on-board.
According to press release by Clifford Law Offices, the firm is representing the family of 40 year old Casey Crafton, who worked for a aircraft consulting firm and was returning home after a work trip. He had three children and a wife of 16 years.

Robert Clifford, owner of Clifford Law Offices, said “Casey was an incredible human being. He was a giver. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed coaching his boys on their youth soccer and little league baseball teams. They will be grieving him for the rest of their lives that will never be the same” (Clifford Law Offfices, Feb. 18th).
The American Airlines flight was about to land at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on January 29th when it collided with a U.S. Army helicopter over the Potomac River, killing 3 on the helicopter and 64 on the American Airlines Plane. It was the first fatal crash of a commercial plane in the U.S. since 2009.
The NTSB reported 98 aviation accidents so far this year, 14 of which were fatal accidents. Last month there was 63 accidents, 10 of which were fatal. In January of last year there was 80 accidents, 19 of which were fatal. There have been 35 accidents reported by the NTSB thus far this month.
