On March 2nd, 2025, President Zelensky met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. During these peace talks they made steps towards peace for Ukraine.
According to Steve Hendrix and Mariana Alfaro from The Washington Post, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “Europe’s aim now, was to arm Ukraine sufficiently so that it could begin any peace talks from a position of strength. Countries have expressed interest in joining a ‘coalition of the willing’ that would help ‘guarantee the peace’ a future deal”(Mar. 3rd, 2025).
According to the same article, “Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, both of whom also met with Trump last week, were seeking to shape a diplomatic cleanup of U.S.-Ukrainian relations, Starmer said. The two and ‘possibly one or two others’ would act as mediators between Washington and Kyiv, working on a ceasefire plan acceptable to Ukraine and Europe that they would present to Trump”(Mar. 3rd, 2025).

According to Rob Picheta, Michael Rios, and Hira Humayun from CNN, “French President Emmanuel Macron outlined the contours of such a plan in an interview with Le Figaro, saying that France and the United Kingdom have proposed a month-long limited ceasefire in Ukraine” (Mar. 2nd, 2025).
According to the DW, “Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called the London summit ‘a shameful sight’ in a post on social media X. Medvedev, who is now deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, dismissed the gathering as a ‘coven… to swear allegiance to the Nazi nobodies in Kyiv’”(Mar. 2nd, 2025).
The DW also says that, “Russian parliamentarian Konstantin Kosachev ridiculed the outcome of the Ukraine talks in London as ‘a desperate attempt to pass off as success the failure of a 10-year policy of inciting Ukraine towards Russia by the same Great Britain and, until recently, the United States’”(Mar. 2nd, 2025).
