On Saturday, April 5th, across all 50 states and globally protesters held a “Hands off” protest against Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The protest was organized by a pro-democracy movement due to the attack on American citizens rights and freedom.
In a CNN article it states, “Over 1,400 “Hands Off”! mass action protests were led at state capitols, federal buildings, congressional offices, Social Security’s headquarters, parks and city halls throughout the entire country – anywhere “we can make sure they hear us,” organizers said. “Hands Off! demands “an end to the billionaire power grab” (Elassar, Shelton, Apr. 16).

About nearly 600,00 people signed up to be apart of the protest, which extended to major cities such as London and Paris.
The number of people hasn’t been exactly counted, but there was an estimated amount of millions of citizens gathered together in the U.S. for the protest across all states.
Throughout the protest there were demands that wanted to be met, in the CNN article is states, “an end to the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration; an end to slashing federal funds for Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs working people rely on; and an end to the attacks on immigrants, trans people, and other communities” (Elassar, Shelton, Apr. 16).
After the protest, many representatives made statements concerning the event that occurred and the Trump administration.

Jamie Raskin of Maryland stated, “Our founders wrote a Constitution that does not begin with ‘We the dictators,’ the preamble says ‘We the people, no moral person wants an economy-crashing dictator who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing” (Elassar, Shelton, Apr. 16).
