According to CNN, Carney said in the speech that, “As I have been warning for months, America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country. But these are not idle threats. President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us, that will never ever happen.” ( , ,

According to footage from Reuters, Carney, in the same speech, said that “Our old relationship with the United States, a relationship based on steadily increasing integration, is over” (Reuters, April 28th).
In a social media post on LinkedIn, Carney said that, “Canadians elected a new government to stand up for Canada and build a strong economy. As Prime Minister, I’ve heard that message loud and clear. Today, I’ve shared my plan to set out on a new path for Canada — and act with focus and determination.”
This is the Liberal Party’s fourth win a row, but they haven’t won the majority since 2015.
