News reported on September 8th of 2025, 6 local citizens were shot and killed during Jerusalem shooting at Ramot Junction. According to CNN news, this shooting was the deadliest attack in the city since 2023, when a Palestinian man opened fire on seven people near a synagogue in January.
Israeli authorities state that the two men were identified as Muthanna Omar (20), and Muhammad Taha (21), Muthanna Omar reportedly lived in a village named Al-Qubeiba, and Muhammad Taha lived in Qatanna. Both men were reported with no other criminal charges or arrests prior to the incident. A resident was also arrested by Israeli forces that day due to suspicion of the involvement of the attack. According to the CNN staff, they reported,”Among the six people confirmed to have been killed are three men in their 30’s, two men in their 50’s, and a woman in her 50’s, officials said. Several more victims were treated for their injuries by emergency responders ” (
Soon after the incident, officials state,“Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that it had been a “painful and difficult morning,” where “innocent civilians, women, men, and children were brutally murdered and wounded in cold blood” (CNN Staff Sept 8th, 2025).More information from officials: ”Reaction now from far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority (PA) “must disappear from the map” following a deadly shooting in Jerusalem” (CNN’s Karni and Ebrahim Sept 8th,2025).Bezalel Smotrich adds to his claim during this speech, that the cities in Gaza have been reduced to rubble by the Israeli military and accuses the PA of teaching children to “murder Jews.” But, apparently, there was no physical evidence that the two shooters had any connection to the PA. The PA’s presidency “denounced all forms of violence and terrorism, regardless of their source,” and claimed that “security and stability in the region cannot be achieved” without ending the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem (CNN’s Khadder, Dahman and Nicholls Sept 8th,2025).
The PA presidency also claims that if Palestinian people were granted independence and sovereignty as a state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the cycle of violence in the city would end. Soon after Jerusalem was still shaken up about the earlier attack, the Israeli authorities ordered evacuation in Gaza. According to the authorities there, marked buildings would also be attacked due to the presence of Hamas terrorist infrastructure inside or near the buildings. Because of these traits. The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) was extensively damaged since the start of the war and had been raided by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and was used as a “military base” during previous operations.
