On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, major airports in the U.S have refused to play a public service announcement video made by Homeland Security Secretary Krisi Neom. The video blames the Democrats party for the government shutdown.
The video is playing on monitor controlled by transportation security administration. “at Detroit Metro Airport in Michigan and Bismarck Airport Airport in North Dakota, the airports confirmed to CNN, but many airports have refused to allow it on screens that they control.” ( Skores Alexandra, Park Hanna Oct,15,25)

The video started off as a normal message however quickly turned political. A video first obtained by Fox news ““It is TSA’s top priority to make sure that you have the most pleasant and efficient airport experience as possible while we keep you safe,” ( Skores Alexandra, Park Hanna Oct,15,25) The video then took a turn, “However, Democrats in Congress refuse to fund the federal government, and because of this, many of our operations are impacted, and most of our TSA employees are working without pay.”
Though TSA check points often include videos of government officials to welcome travelers and explain the procedures, they usually do not contain political messages. Passengers at Albany International Airport at New York were shown a small part of the video before the airport authority took it down.
A spokesperson for Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas told CNN in a statement it declined to display the video because of its “political messaging that did not align with the neutral, informational nature of the public service announcements typically shown at the security checkpoints.” ( Skores Alexandra, Park Hanna Oct,15,25.)
As of October 15, 2025, nearly three dozen out of around 16,116 U.S. airports were not airing the video, including major hubs and smaller airports.
