On October 12 2025, The San Francisco 49ers suffered a heartbreaking loss after Fred Warner broke and dislocated his right ankle. The atmosphere definitely shifted after the injury.  The 49ers Coach “Shanahan said Warner will need surgery, which will likely end his season”(Gaby Fernandez, October 12, 2025). Fred Warner was a big contributor to the 49ers defense.

His absence will definitely be felt sooner or later. The NFL has been having a lot of injuries recently. They need to try and figure out more ways to minimize the injuries because it takes away from fans who spend their hard earned money to try and go see their favorite players. “his teammates were in disbelief”(Nick Wagoner, October 12, 2025).

This type of injury in particular definitely will be hard to bounce back from because it affects a lot of Fred Warners Mobility. Baker Mayfield even sent out his own thoughts and prayers.  He opened his press conference “sending thoughts and prayers to Warner”(Nick Wagoner, October 12, 2025).  Fred Warner is going to need all the support he can get from everyone around the world. It’s never good to see any players go through injuries. Especially significant injuries like a broken and dislocated ankle.

The majority of NFL teams have been battling and fighting injuries. Including the 49ers. Their organization has been struggling with injuries this whole season and Fred Warner being injured does not make anything better for them. Overall Fred Warner’s injury was heartbreaking to see, but there is hope he can make a full recovery and return back to his old self.
