Power outages are not a new concept for Ukraine. Their power was taken out on other occasions throughout the months of October and November, according to a reuters.com article ( December 11 2022) However, the power outage was in the city of Odesa, a sea port off the Black Sea, Kyiv, and the region of Kyiv.  About 1.5 million people in Odesa are without any power as of December 12, according to a New York Post article by writer David Propper (December 11 2022).

Officials are working  hard to restore the power to the Ukrainian region. In a report said by Volodmyer Zeleynsky from presidant.gov.ua (December 12 2022) it says, “Blackouts are the last hope of terrorists, but even without light, we know well where to shoot and what to liberate” This brings hope to the citizens and the soldiers especially since no power means no water or heating during the upcoming colder days ahead. M. Timchenko, in a DTEK article written on December 14th 2022, says,“We will win this energy war because after each attack we gain experience and with it the understanding of how to maintain the power system. Our message to the Russians is simple: you can do whatever you want, but you will never achieve your goal of plunging Ukraine into darkness,”

Ukraine’s constant commitment from leaders and support from other countries will help them prevail through this war.
