In Vatican City, on January 22, Pope Francis made a passionate plea, which was spoken in segments of Spanish, for an end to violence spreading throughout Peru over demands for the resignation of Dina Boluarte, Peru’s president.

Over the last few weeks, there have been nearly 50 deaths over anti-government protests. ABC News tells us Pope Francis was speaking to nearly 15,00 people that were gathered at St. Peter’s Square for his weekly appearance. “I invite (you) to pray so that the acts of violence cease in Peru.” The pontiff, the pope, requested that “all sides take the path of dialogue among brothers of the same nation, in full respect of human rights and the rule of law,” provided by Reuters

Since he was joining with Peruvian bishops, Francis switched from Italian to Spanish, “No to violence, from whatever part it comes! No more deaths!” provided by ABC news.
