AAA Partners with Northmont to Provide Driving Classes

Behind the Wheel

Autumn Jenkins, Editor-in-Chief

Northmont is partnering with the American Automobile Association (AAA) to provide all students, 15 and 5 months of age, with driving education. The program costs $399, which covers both the classroom and on-road education.

The first session will run from October 25 to December 8. It will be 2 hours a day each Tuesday and Thursday with no classes held during Thanksgiving week.  The other two sessions will take place January 10 to February 16 and then April 4 to May 11, according to marketing teacher Mr. Eric Wagner.

Since the program is purely AAA-ran, all instructors will be sent from independent AAA locations. The first session will have a student limit of 30. Each session following will not have any limit, however for every additional 30 students AAA will provide another instructor.

The benefit of driving education at Northmont offers students the ability take their classes on-site at the high school. With the addition of this program, students don’t have to worry about getting transportation to and from a different building.
