Daniel Steins son, Joe Stein, called yesterday the worst day of my life on his Facebook page. ??My mom, sister and I are absolutely devastated and crushed! Our lives now are going to have to take a different path, one that we thought would not happen for a long time. My dad was a simple man and did not require much. Daniel Stein was retired and lived in Squirrel Hill with his wife, nephew Steven Halle told CNN affiliate WPXI. He was a great guy?? he was a fun guy, he had a dry sense of humor and everybody loved him. Its a shock, we didnt expect this. It hits too close to home, Halle said. He was attending services today at the synagogue like he does every Saturday and next thing we know, theres texts going around, about an active shooter in squirrel hill at the tree of life synagogue.
