In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, McDonald’s decided to remove their beloved chicken tenders from their menus. 2020 was an incredibly difficult year for many restaurants, and the loss of the chicken tenders impacted many fans of the crispy, juicy, and overall loved chicken tenders. But, on April 24th, 2025, McDonald’s unveiled their brand new McCrispy Strips and their Creamy Chili dipping sauce. This brought delight back to the community, and in an interview with Aiden Townsend, a food consumer, he had this to say about the news:
How do you feel about the release of the new McCrispy Strips?
“I wanna try em to see if they’re like, the same chicken of the chicken nuggets.”
What do you the prices of the McCrispy Chicken Strip meal to be?
“I don’t know the prices of anything currently. I expect it to be slightly cheaper than a Big Mac meal. Around $9.”
Are you going to indulge in the new McCrispy Chick Strips upon their release?
“Probably.”

According to McDonald’s official website, “We’ve been listening to our fans on social and beyond, and they have made one thing clear: they want more chicken. But not just any chicken – they want juicy, dippable perfection. So, countless taste tests later, McDonald’s is ready to reveal McCrispy™ Strips and the all-new Creamy Chili Dip – a flavor-packed duo that’s here to stay. This marks the first time since 2021 we’ve debuted a permanent menu item in the U.S. – available in all participating restaurants nationwide by May 5. We’re raising the chicken game to a new level with McCrispy Strips: irresistibly craveable chicken strips made with juicy, 100% white meat, coated with crispy golden-brown breading and bursting with a bold, new black pepper flavor. McCrispy Strips also come with a perfect pairing – Creamy Chili Dip, a savory, sweet and tangy sauce that unlocks the full Strips experience” (McDonald’s, April 2024).
In an interview with Ranger Puterbaugh, a fan of chickens and tenders of all shapes and sizes, had this to say about the return of the chicken tenders:
“I liked the old ones. I liked their snack wraps too. The snack wrap was just the chicken strips cut up so I think it will be nice to have the chicken strips and hopefully the snack wraps back. The one menu item they need to bring back is the CHICKN BISCUIT! They took a biscuit, cut it in half, and threw a chicken patty in it. There was enough butter and grease in it to clog my arteries but I loved it.”
