The 59 year old Brian Hooker was arrested in relation to the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, on Wednesday April 9th. Lynette went missing on a small boat off the coast of the Bahamas while on a boating trip with Brian on Saturday, April 4th, at around 8 p.m.
Brian told police that Lynette had fallen overboard, but Karli Aylesworth, Lynette’s daughter, remains skeptical. In an interview with CBS News, “For one, I don’t understand how she got the key, Brian’s always driving. So he basically is in charge of the key. So the fact that my mom had it doesn’t make any sense.” She also said that Lynette was an experienced swimmer and had been sailing for over a decade (Sganga, Intarasuwa, April 9th).

According to text messages received by CBS News, Brian texted a friend, saying “The wind blew me away from her and she swam towards the sailboat and we lost sight of each other pretty quickly as it was just about sundown.” (Czachor, Benavides, April 9th).
According to CBS News, Brian, in a statement on Wednesday, said “I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused by beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas,” he said. “Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart. We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus.” (Benavides, April 8th).
