The Northmont Drama Club has officially opened its box office ticket sales for its fall play “A Greek Mythology Olympiaganza”. The announcement went out on the Northmont Drama Club social media accounts on September 21st and provided the link to the box office. Tickets can be purchased from now to opening night, and can be purchased online in advance or at the door.
The Northmont Drama Club website describes the play as “Two battling narrators attempt to cover the entirety of Greek mythology using audience participation, cross-dressing, and general theatrical insanity. Famous myths such as Pandora’s Box, Jason and the Argonauts (the original Super Friends), and Hercules: Intern God jostle for space with obscure, weird myths such as the myth of Linus and the legend of the Argus. Culminating in a bizarre, musical dance-influenced version of The Iliad complete with a full-scale battle of little green army men, this play is wild, silly, and a complete blast for audiences of all ages. “
In an interview with Sophi Fritz, who plays Icarus and Prometheus, they said:
Rhys: What are your favorite moments during the rehearsals of this show?
Sophi: Personally, I feel like my favorite part of the rehearsal process is one of two things. One, that I get to have an entire scene where I just talk to myself which is kind of difficult cause I don’t have anyone else in the scene to bounce off of but it’s fun cause I get to talk to myself. The second is sitting in the house and watching other people perform because this show is so funny. The cast is so funny and I love watching them but I won’t be able to sit in the wings on show nights because I will be laughing too loud.
Rhys: Are there any parts where you hope the audience laughs a lot?
Sophi: I really hope in scene 6 of Jason and the Argonauts, I hope people laugh at the wonder twins joke because that’s my favorite part because of the repeating “Shape of Bucket of water” joke that Quin says so many times. I hope people laugh at that because if they don’t, it will be kind of awkward.
Puterbaugh, who was sitting right beside us during the interview: I HOPE THE AUDIENCE LAUGHS AT YOUR MOM!!!
Rhys: What is your favorite scene and why?
Sophi: I think my favorite scene would have to be my own scene, the Icarus scene because I get to sing and I really like singing. There are only like 3 moments where we sing and I get to be one of them, and after singing I get a monologue and it’s very intense because I’m talking to the audience itself.
Rhys: Is there anything else you’d like to add about the show?
Sophi: Obviously come see it. It’s October 19th through 20th at the Northmont community auditorium. Then I’d just say that this is a super fun show. It’s super silly and it’s giving Something Rotten vibes. If we took Something Rotten back even farther back in time, it’s like ‘are we really doing this?’ ‘Yes we are.’ People should definitely come see it, it’s very funny.”
The show dates are October 19th, 20th, and 21st, all starting at 7 PM!
