The Northmont Drama Club here at the high school is notorious for their breathtaking performances and astoundingly talented actors, and their next production is Bright Star! Bright Star is a new musical that delves deep into the life of Alice Murphy, a girl from Zebulon, North Carolina. the story follows the loss of her child after her partners father took the baby.
The Northmont Drama Club website summarizes the story as “A sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion. Auditions for Bright Star will occur on the stage and will go on from Tuesday the 21st through Thursday the 23rd! There is a workshop for all interested on Thursday, January 16th in the choir room. Auditioning is a multi-step process, consisting of a dance audition, vocal audition, and a reading audition. Callbacks are by invitation only and will occur on Thursday, January 23rd. The morning after callbacks, the cast list will go up for all who get into the musical! There is a mandatory cast read thru on Monday, January 27th.
