On Wednesday November 4th, a UPS plane took off from the Louisville Airport, in Kentucky, soon after takeoff the plane crashed into the ground killing at least twelve people and injuring at least 15 more.
Although we do not know what caused the crash videos did show the plane was on fire while taking off before eventually bursting into flames midair. The plane, which was a three engine Mcdonnell Douglas MD-11, was carrying 20,000 packages, about 233,000 pounds of fuel for the journey, and 3 UPS workers who have not been confirmed dead.

As of writing none of the victims have been identified with the Kentucky Governor, Andy Beshear warning that the state of the bodies will make it more difficult to identify the victims. Beshear also warned residents against using flying drones since it could “get in the way of our recovery operations”(Intarasuwan,Breen, Nov 5).
As of Wednesday afternoon search and rescue attempts were ended and crews were instead told to focus on recovery.
On Thursday November 6th, the black box for the plane was found in the wreck where NTSB board member J. Todd Inmann said that the device had suffered some heat damage but felt that specialists would be able to get sufficient data.
