On November 13th, 2025, A 2 year old Collie dog named Whisp fell from 100 feet off of a cliff in Scotland. After alerting the Coast Guard of this, they rushed to rescue the dog, and after 3 hours of hard work and pulling up the dog using rope tools and other equipment, Whisp was returned to his owner safely. According to Yahoo News, Whisp “fell at the cliffs near Heyler in the north mainland on Thursday and was on a ledge” (Yahoo, November 14, 2025).
The exact time of the dog’s falling is uncertain, but we know it had to have occurred before 11 am, because at 11 am the Coast Guard were alerted and began to rescue Whisp. Their first attempt was unsuccessful, when they were trying to reach him physically and bring him back up by the seaward side. However, the area he was trapped on proved to be too rocky and too unsafe for the Coast Guard to reach him, with an interview by Good News Network saying “The two-year-old Collie was about 30m down the cliff, on a rocky ledge, making access from the seaward side impossible.” (Good News Network, November 16 2025). After this first attempt, at around 11:10 am, they had got the idea to use rope equipment to lift Whisp up. The process took about 3 hours until the dog was returned to the surface ground at 2 pm, where he was safe, healthy, and without injuries, which is such a miracle considering the grand height he fell from.

According to an article from the New York Post, “Whisp was ‘safe and well’ and ‘remarkably unscathed’ despite the harrowing fall, the coast guard said in a statement” (Zoe Hussain, November 17, 2025) and shows the following image as proof of his well being and safety. After being returned to land, Whisp was reunited with his owner.
