A 15 year old boy thought that he was going to meet up with a girl. The boy was instead chased down and killed by two teenagers. Yefry Archaga and Praize King, both 18, are both facing first-degree murder charges with connections to the murder of this teenage boy. This quote. “I just don’t wanna die,”(March 12,Young) was given by the court documents. Obviously the kid was saying he did not want to die to the two teens.
Authorities have not released a motive for killing this 15 year old boy. Two witnesses said “the girl who lured Miles to the scene of his death “blamed Miles for the death of the victim in a 2025 homicide case.”(March 14, Yan) With this information we can’t conclude much other than the fact that he had to have been by or close to the victim of this homicide. This killing has become a political flashpoint for supporters of tougher immigration reform enforcement in Missouri.

Archaga, another adult suspect and the female suspect were driving around Springfield in a dark Mercedes when they discussed “setting up” Miles. Two other juveniles were in the car. They all went to an apartment complex to get another vehicle. The group split after that and the young female suspect drove to pick up Miles. Around 2:15 a.m. March 12 a young female suspect arrived at Miles home, She then was “providing him with the belief that the two would be engaging in sexual intercourse.”(March 12, Yan)
The people that Miles was on the phone with were warning him not to leave with the young woman. Miles gets in the car with her and they drive somewhere and out of nowhere gets blocked by the other car with the other 4 people in it. Miles gets out and starts running, that is when one of the adults has a “glock style” pistol and runs after him. The other adult then gets out and starts chasing Miles as well. The person who is still on the phone states, “hears a sound of a gunshot followed by Miles saying “ I just don’t wanna die.”(March 12, Young) After this 2 more gunshots were let off. Now that the suspects are up to date there are only 2 people facing charges for Miles murder.
