LabCoatz, is a science and engineering content creator who recently posted a video on January 8th about how he spent a year researching the secret recipe for the popular drink brand Coca-Cola as well as giving viewers the recipe that he found. Within only three days of the video being released it has gained over 2 million views and quickly became the creators most viewed video so far.
Coca-Cola was invented nearly 140 years ago, with slight recipe changes, But the company has managed to keep the recipe a secret through means such as not filling a patent. Which although would make it legal for anyone to sell the drink, also allows the company to hide the exact ingredients used, since they are not publicly available to view.
LabCoatz stated in his video that he wanted to focus on finding out what natural flavors were in the drink since the label does not specify what the flavors are. The creator found that the recipe is carbonated water, 104g of sugar, 1mL of flavor solution A (made by diluting 20-21mL of the flavoring into 1L using 95% ethanol), 45.8mL lemon oil, 36.8mL lime oil, 8mL tea tree oil, 4.5mL cassia cinnamon oil, 2.7mL nutmeg oil, 1.2mL orange oil, 0.7mL coriander oil, 0.6mL frenchol, flavor solution B 10mL (made by diluting into 1L with water), 320mL Shanks caramel color, 175g glycerin, 45mL 85% phosphoric acid, 10mL vinegar 5% acidity, 10mL vanilla extract, 8g win tannis, and finally 9.65g of caffeine.
As of writing Coca-Cola has not made a statement about this.
