On April 6th 2026, The Michigan Wolverines Men’s basketball team faced off against the Uconn Huskies. It was a very anticipated match up and fans were excited for it. Coming into the game, Michigan had a record of 37-3 and Uconn had a record of 37-3 as well. Both teams had a successful season leading up to this game.  Michigan’s team chemistry was undeniable the whole 2026 college basketball season. Michigan’s star forward Yaxel Lendeborg would always go live on the tiktok app with his teammates after getting a big win, which many fans loved to watch and tune in.

There were injuries on both teams that affected them. “Solo ball was dealing with an ankle injury, he provided a spark with three 3-pointers…Meanwhile, Big Ten player of the Year Yaxel Lendeborg, who is dealing with an MCL and ankle injury, struggled to find the bottom of the net”(Bagwell April 6th 2026).  Injuries are part of the game of basketball but maybe if those key players weren’t hurt the game would’ve been even more intense. 

Elliot Cadeau the starting point guard for Michigan “Knocked down the team’s first 3-pointer after an 0-for-11 start”(Bagwell April 6th 2026).  You would think a team that missed all of their three pointers would be getting blown out but Michigan showed otherwise. Also “For the first time since 1989, the Wolverines are the National champions”(Lambert April 6th 2026). The last time Michigan had a chance to win was 2018, which they lost to Villanova. Overall Michigan beating Uconn wasn’t easy with the circumstances they were given, but they worked and fought hard to Win it all.
