Jake Paul 3-0 After Boxing Match Against Ben Askren

Josh Murphy, Staff writer

On April 17, 2020, internet personality Jake Paul did a boxing match against ex-MMA fighter Ben Askren. According to Sportingnews, Paul knocked out Askren in the first round of the fight. Paul is now 3-0 in his boxing career. Who else has Paul boxed and won against?

According to sportskeeda, Paul‘s first boxing match was a white-collar match in August 2018, against British YouTuber Deji, whose real name is Oladeji Daniel Olatunji. A white-collar boxing match is a type of boxing match where new boxers fight. Jake Paul’s fight was the opening event for his brother, Logan Paul, who boxed another British YouTuber, KSI, real name: Olajide William Olatunji, who is brother to Diji.  In the match, Jake Paul beat his opponent, Deji. After winning his white-collar match, Paul started his professional boxing debut against YouTuber AnEsonGib in January 2020. During this match, Paul got a knockout in the first round, like he would against Askren in April. After his match with AnEsonGib, many people thought Jake Paul would box Olajide William Olatunji, A.K.A. KSI.  Instead, 10 months after his fight with AnEsonGib, Paul boxed NBA player Nate Robinson. On November 28, 2020, Jake Paul knocked out Robinson in two rounds. You may recognize names like KSI or Nate Robinson, but you are probably asking, “Who is Ben Askren?”

According to Sportingnews, Askren was a two-time, division 1 wrestler before starting a career in the UFC. In the UFC, Askren won 19-2 before retiring in November of 2018.

After some matches with these ‘big names,’ the next question becomes, “Who will Paul fight next?” According to Sportingnews, “Jake Paul called out several MMA fighters to step into a boxing ring with him. Among them were Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Dillon Danis, Jorge Masvidal, and Ben Askren… some suggested they’d take the fight on social media.” Could one of these MMA fighters be Jake Paul’s next opponent? And take his win of 3-0 up to more?
