On February 19th. 2026, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, better known as the Former Prince, Andrew, was arrested after the recent developments in the Epstein Files. He was arrested on his 66th birthday and was released from custody only 11 hours later under investigation.

The evidence in the files that raised suspicions for Andrew were a series of emails, one of which says that Andrew might’ve shared confidential information with Epstein, another says he emailed Epstein’s accomplice, Maxwell, asking if she has found “new inappropriate friends” signed with an ‘A’, presumably for Andrew, way back in 2001. And there were also pictures of Andrew with women with Maxwell standing in the background , and there were many more pieces of evidence against Andrew. Currently, he could serve life in prison as a maximum sentence for misconduct in public office.
According to an interview from CBS News, King Charles had a rather neutral approach to his arrest, saying “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.” (February 19, 2026. Reals, Kashchenko). Also saying that he feels sorry for his brother, while also accepting that the law must still run its course, and what Andrew was doing was wrong and deserves punishment.
Unlike King Charles, the Giuffre Family had a more outwardly positive approach to his arrest, saying in an article from NBC News “Today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty” (February 19, 2026. Smith, and Fievet). The Giuffre Family have had a bad relationship with Andrew, with a court case happening in 2021 over their daughter, Virginia, being trafficked to Andrew while she was underage. While the case was dismissed in 2022, justice was inevitably served for the Giuffre Family. And hopefully more victims of the Epstein files will receive the justice they deserve in the future.
