On March 1, 2026 Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Dominiq Ponder was reported dead after a car accident in Boulder Colorado. It’s unfortunate for Dominiq Ponder’s family and the Colorado Buffaloes organization to be given the news of his passing.
The accident occurred because “Ponder was driving a 2023 Tesla when he lost control on a curve and hit a guardrail, according to the Colorado State Patrol”(AP News March. 2 2026). Dominiq Ponder’s parents “Catrina and Wendell said they have been able to get through the past few days thanks to the support of CU Boulder’s football team and coaching staff”(Bryan March 4, 2026).
Ponder left an impact on many people around him. His 7th grade friend stated he was “”Always smiling, laughing and joking, no matter what kind of day he was having,””(Bryan March 4, 2026). This loss will be felt forever within his loved ones and people he created bonds with understandably. Dominiq has so much love not only for family and the game of football but in everything else he was passionate about.
Overall Dominiq Ponder wasn’t just a college football player. He was more than that, he was a student, a friend, a son, and more importantly a person that made a positive impact on the world while he was still alive.
