WHIO reports that congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) has introduced new legislation that will push the transformation of Ohio to an energy independent state. The hope is that this bill will push other congress members and Senators to follow in order for the United States to become more independent in energy sources. This act is being called the PADE Act currently.

According to information provided by the office of Latta, they want to empower America in domestic energy. Latta has said on multiple occasions that he wants to encourage America into depending on ourselves because of situations with foreign countries such as Russia’s war with Ukraine causing barrels of oil to skyrocket.

This bill is said to include legislation that may help in lowering gas prices, which has been a topic of conversation over the past few weeks. Gas prices in the city of Dayton are currently rising to $3.45 a gallon and will only increase.

“America is far too reliant on foreign energy,” said Latta. “Last year, we imported upwards of $17 billion of petroleum and crude oil from Russia, essentially funding Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.”

Statistics reported by AFPM say that an average of 209,000 barrels per day were imported to the United States from Russia. Crude oil on the other hand has been shown to only be 3% of all imports that America has of it, specifically from Russia.

The PADE act will prohibit this and will strengthen the ropes of all of the energy work that America has and will continue to make sure that America is able to be self sufficient and not have to rely on other countries with products we will need.
