The Former President Has Been Banned From Social Media

The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, has recently been banned from virtually every social media that exists. Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook are among the sites that will ban Trump’s accounts.

There are many reasons Trump is being banned from social media. The most overwhelming is his kindness and supportiveness for his supporters storming the capital. According to the Washington Post, “The moves are meant to guard against further efforts to incite violence and come after months of Trump’s relentless and unfounded allegations of voter fraud and his refusal to accept his loss in the 2020 election.”

His supporters and allies are being banned from social media as well. An entire app, Parler, was deleted off of the app store because the  storming of the Capitol building was allegedly planned on it.

The executive producer of Twitter, Jack Doresy, said banning the former president was “the right thing to do,” according to BBC. Many agree with him, as they also see Trump’s activity on the app as dangerous, but he has also been heavily criticized. To this criticism, he says, “A company making a business decision to moderate itself is different from a government removing access, yet can feel much the same.”
