I’m pretty sure we all know what a movie and a TV series is. You’ve probably at;east watched at least one of each in your life. Though I’ve always gravitated towards series rather than movies and to be quite frankly I believe that series are better than movies. Though people might disagree with me, I’d still like you to read and at least understand why I like series better than movies.
Starting off with character growth. With a longer runtime it gives the characters more time to face conflicts, obstacles, and learn from themselves than it would in movies, so the characters have more room to grow. According to ScreenRant, “Long-running shows are particularly known for how much their main characters grow”(Blaise Feb 25). A movie wouldn’t have as much time to show the characters experiencing obstacles throughout the story and showing how the characters grow from them compared to a series.
Secondly I’d like to talk about unpredictability. A TV series has more time and opportunities to add plot-twists. Each episode usually has a different storyline or a different objection and each season could introduce new characters. Conflicts, and growth for the protagonist. Movies can have plot-lists too, but not on the regular occasions like a series would and there’s usually only 1 plot-twist in movies.
Though this next reasoning is obvious I still want to add it, longer runtime. It’s the biggest difference between movies and series and it’s what makes series more superior. A movie is usually 1 or sometimes 2 hours, but what happens once you finish the movie? People would want more. TV shows have more time to devote to the storyline and more time to continue the plot at a more realistic pace without the need to rush, as well as show more character growth, and give a sense of familiarity to the audience.

Lastly, I would like to talk about new characters. After a while you might get bored or tired of seeing the same characters so that’s when a series can add side characters. These characters can be used for a long-term or short-term use and are usually there to teach the main character a lesson. They could also be a villain, friend or potential lover interest. A single movie usually doesn’t have that many side characters due to restricted runtime and is more focused on the plot and making sure the story is told.
