The family of a Dunbar High School student fatally shot on April 4th the RTA bus hub in downtown Dayton has filed a lawsuit against the Greater Dayton RTA.
Alfred Hale, 18, was shot at Wright Stop Plaza while waiting for a bus to school. He made his way to a local restaurant before passing away from his wounds.
The 39 page wrongful death lawsuit claims that the Greater Dayton RTA has been aware of dangers for riders including students of Dayton Public at Wright Stop Plaza for over a decade.

Michael Wright with Wright & Shulte LLC, the family’s attorney, said that while Dayton Public Schools wasn’t in the initial filing, the district may be included in the suit if they find that the school was negligent, according to WDTN.
According WDTN, Wright said ā[DPS] knows[s] that is an unsafe environment down there for the children and they are still putting them in this position where they are unsafe down there at the hub,ā said Wright. āTheyāre responsible as well.ā (Bales, Brown, Oct. 22).
In October the city announced that a police substation was to open in a vacant building adjacent to the bus hub. It is due to being operations in March.
Julius Williamson, the alleged shooter of Hale, is scheduled to next appear in court on Nov. 5.
